Bannatyne, the forthcoming full-length from Winnipeg guitarist and songwriter Ariel Posen, arrives March 20, 2026 via True North Records. We’ll be covering it in its entirety right here in Vinyl Releases & Reissues.
Having known Ariel personally for the better part of a decade, we can tell you with confidence this record is going to be something special. A slinky and groovy thread thread runs through the three singles “Vagabond,” “Future Present Tense,” and “Empty-Handed” and if we had to speculate, the success of his collaboration with Ash Sloan may have had something to do with leaning into that groove for the writing on this record. Just a theory, but it’s a good one.

“Future Present Tense” in particular showcases his masterful use of the Octavia effect in a way that feels both fresh and distinctly his own. Much like a director who returns to his trusted ensemble cast, Posen has a way of surrounding himself with familiar collaborators that makes each record feel like a homecoming. He’s the ultimate utility player when he wants to be, but never loses the thread of what makes his music unmistakably Ariel.

Reasons Why made an instant fanboy out of me. The anticipation for Bannatyne has me genuinely anxious in the best possible way. Pre-save and vinyl pre-order links below.
